When Sara Rahimi was a teenager living in Iran’s capital, she dreamed of a life where she could do or be whatever she wanted to. She longed to become like Oprah and Ellen: free, powerful, and inspiring. Instead, she lived in an atmosphere characterized by fear and terror – one where Morality Police monitored her every move, and gendered cultural norms determined her life’s path. She once begged a male friend to jump out of her family’s second story window in order to avoid harsh punishment from the police for an unauthorized co-ed after-school hang-out. Flash forward to today, and Sara lives in a new country and finds herself voluntarily jumping– out of a plane rather than a building. I loved the story! it was hard to put the book down as it depicts the real life of a young girl in Iran post revolution.
I laughed and as I was reading trough the pages at times it was hard to hold my tears.
It is an amazing and inspiring story about a strong and courageous lady and how she could overcome challenges in her life.
I recommend this book for those who are curious about a young women’s life in Iran.
This book truly touched my heart. She gets everything she wants, supposedly, and then her world falls apart. Through the fog of that grief, she rebuilds. Wow. What a brave woman. I am so in awe of her strength and her honesty about what rock bottom felt like. And then so exhalted by how positive and fun she is. When bad things happen, of course we hurt. But Sara shows us how to continue onward. I fully recommend this awesome book.
I would say one of the most amazing stories with full of passion. I really enjoyed reading this book. Little Sarah is a fighter with a heart full of love. Highly recomanded this book.
